drug affecting fliud and electrolyte imbalance

1- Restoring water electrolyte  and acid base balance




ex:NaCL .9% --ringer solution(NaCL+KCL+Ca)
these solutions given parenterally in case diarrohea and vomitation (dehydration)
giving solustion to the animal
note:excessive fluids should be avoided to avoid water intoxication which cause odema ,haemolysis ,tremors and convulsion

b)glucose solution
5% or 10% solution I/V as source of energy

c)Na lactate
given I/V in sever acidosis

d)Na bicarbonate
in case acidosis




2-Restoring blood volume


a)plasma expander

used when blood or plasma lost as in haemorrage and burning

ex:whole blood :cllected on(anticoagulant) Na citrate 3.8%(1ml Na citrate for 4ml blood) from donor animal and injected to recepient animal at rate 10ml/min

ex:blood plasma:used in shock as in case truma-burning-surgery

b)plasma substitute

ex:dextran - parenteral feeding




3-hormones


a)Aldosterone  :1-reabsorption Na from renal tubules
                         2-Na attracts water with it
b)Deoxycortone acetate
synthetic hormones but weaker than Aldosteron

c)fludrocortisone
synthetic hormone but grater than Aldosteron in activity.



4-diuretics 




5-anti diuretics
