Drugs affecting metabolism-
drug affecting fliud and electrolyte imbalance
1- Restoring water electrolyte and acid base balance
ex:NaCL .9% --ringer solution(NaCL+KCL+Ca)
note:excessive fluids should be avoided to avoid water intoxication which cause odema ,haemolysis ,tremors and convulsion
b)glucose solution
5% or 10% solution I/V as source of energy
c)Na lactate
given I/V in sever acidosis
d)Na bicarbonate
in case acidosis
2-Restoring blood volume
a)plasma expander
used when blood or plasma lost as in haemorrage and burning
ex:whole blood :cllected on(anticoagulant) Na citrate 3.8%(1ml Na citrate for 4ml blood) from donor animal and injected to recepient animal at rate 10ml/min
ex:blood plasma:used in shock as in case truma-burning-surgery
b)plasma substitute
ex:dextran - parenteral feeding
3-hormones
a)Aldosterone :1-reabsorption Na from renal tubules
2-Na attracts water with it
b)Deoxycortone acetate
synthetic hormones but weaker than Aldosteron
c)fludrocortisone
synthetic hormone but grater than Aldosteron in activity.
