Drug affecting carbohydrate metabolism-
synthetic anti hyperglycemics (oral antidiabetic drugs OADs )
mode of action :stimulate insulin release from B cell
1-sulfonylurease as glimepride ,gliclazide ,glibenclamide .
2-meglitinides as phennyl alanine derivatives (natiglinide)
mode of action :anti diabetic action without stimulate insulin release.
1-alpha glucosidase inhibitors as (acarbose )
interfer with glucoseabsorption and digestion
2-biguanides as (metformin)
inhibit liver gluconeogenesis .glycogenolysis and increase peripheral insulin sensitivity
3-thiasolidinediones(glitazones)as(rosiglitazone)
increase sensetivity of tissue to insulin(increase receptor sensetivity)
